Treoir do Thuismitheoirí – Parents’ Guide

Is í an Ghaeilge teanga na scoile agus beimid ag súil leis an nGaeilge amháin a chloistéail ó na daltaí ó rang na  naíonáin mhóra ar aghaidh, ní hamháin ar scoil, ach ag teacht ar scoil agus ag imeacht ón scoil. Beimid ag súil go ndéanfaidh na tuismitheoirí na daltaí a spreagadh agus a mhisniú sa dóigh seo, agus go mbainfidh siad féin úsáid as pé Gaeilge atá acu leis na leanaí, le tuismitheoirí agus Gaeilgeoir ar bith eile.

An Ghaeilge is the language of the school,  and it is expected that only Irish should be used by all pupils from senior infants onwards, not only in school, but also travelling to and from school. Please encourage you child in this respect and use as much Irish as you can when speaking to your child, to other parents or to any other Gaeilgeoir.

Tá sé tabhachtach go n-úsáidfeadh an dalta an leagan Gaeilge den ainm agus den sloinne i gconaí. Cuir ainm an pháiste ar gach ní a bhaineann leis / leí: mála, cóta, bosca lóin, geansaí, léine, T-léine, carabhat, leabhair, coipleabhair &rl.

It is important that the Irish version of the pupil’s name be used at all times, and especially on school books and copies. Please put name tags on all your child’s possessions i.e. bag, coat, lunch box, flask, Jumper, shirt, T-shirt, Tie, Books, copies etc.

Beimid ag súil go dtabharfaidh tú tacaíocht do mheoin agus do pholasaí na scoile, d’udaráis na scoile, idir Bhord Bainistíochta agus foireann, agus d’fheachtais éagsúla na scoile a reachtálfar trid na blianta ag Comhairle na dTuismitheoirí.
It is hoped that you will give support and encouragement to the ethos and policy of Scoil an Duinninigh, to the school authorities, Board of Management and staff, and to the various campaigns and events that Comhairle na dTuismitheoiri organise.

Tosnaíonn an lá scoile ag 8:55a.m., na ranganna ag 9:15a.m. agus críochnaíonn sé ag 2:35p.m. (1:35p.m. do na naíonáin).
Is ceart do thusimitheoirí  fanacht taobh amuigh den gheata go dtagann an páistí amach. Ná tóg páiste eile gan é a chur in úil don múinteoir. Bíonn 2 shos i rith an lae 10:30 & 12:30, Is ceart lón folláin agus deoch a thabhairt do na páistí.

The school day begins at 8:55a.m.with classes starting at 9:15a.m. and finishes at 2:35p.m. (1:35p.m. for the Juniors). The parents should wait outside the school gate until the children are brought out. Do not take another child without first speaking to the teacher. There are 2 breaks during the day – 10:30 & 12:30, the children should have a healthy lunch and drink with them.

Laethanta a bheidh an scoil dúnta, cuirfear scéala abhaile roimh ré i scríbhinn. Má cheapann tú nach  féidir leat brath ar do pháiste an litir a thabhairt duit, cuardaigh sa mhála scoile gach lá.

Parents will be notified in advance about days on which the school will be closed. If you think your child is not reliable enough to deliver a written message,  please check the school bag.

Caithfidh múinteoirí agus tuismitheoirí obair as láimh a chéile chun dea-iompar agus smacht a chothú sna daltaí. Beimid ag súil go mbainfear leas ceart as an scéim teagmhála idir mhúinteoirí agus tuismitheoirí chun é seo a chur i gcrích. Cuimhnigh gur ortsa, an tuismitheoir, atá an dualgas smacht a choinnéail ar do pháiste, agus go bhfuil an múinteoir ag brath ar do thacaíocht agus do chomhoibriú. Ar ndóigh, tá smacht agus dea-iompar bunaithe ar mheas – meas ag an bpáiste air féin, ar a gcomráidithe agus ar na múinteoirí. Muna bhfuil iompar do pháiste sásúil cuirfear é/í ar Chód Smachta na Scoile.
Teachers and parents must work together to encourage a spirit of good behaviour and discipline in the school. It is hoped that proper use will be made of the teacher/parent contact scheme to achieve this.

Remember that yours is the primary responsibility for your child’s behaviour and that the teacher is depending on your support and co-operation. Discipline is based on respect – respect of the pupils for themselves, for their colleagues and for their teachers.  Children are expected to behave in an acceptable manner both in the classroom and in the school surroundings. If your child’s behaviour is unsatisfactory the school’s Code of Discipline will be invoked.

Dé réir Act Leasa Oideachais 2000 is ceart do thuismitheoirí nóta a scríobh má bhíonn páiste as láthair. Coimeadfar na nótaí sa scoil. Má bhíonn páiste as láthair níos mó na 20 lá beidh sé de dhualgas ar an bPríomh Oide é a chur in úil don Oifigeach Leasa Oideachais. Cuirfear na dátaí ar a mbeidh an scoil dúnta in úil ag tús na scoilbhliana. Má bhíonn ar an scoil dunadh de bharr gearchéim cuirfear é in úil chomh luath agus is féidir.

Beidh obair bhaile le déanamh ag daltaí uilig na scoile ceithre lá sa tseachtain, déantar é a thosnú le naíonáin bheaga níos déanaí sa bhliain de ghnáth. Ní thabharfar obair bhaile ag an deireadh seachtaine do ghnáth. Beidh gnéithe scríofa agus foghlama ag baint leis an obair seo, agus táthar ag súil go bhféachfaidh tuismitheoirí chuige go  ndéanfar go díograsach agus go slachtmhar í. Iarrtar ort an obair bhaile a shíniú gach oíche.

Má cheapann tú go bhfuil do pháiste ag caitheamh an iomarca ama ag déanamh obair bhaile. Cuir nóta chuig an múinteoir á rá. Ná déan an obair bhaile don páiste.
