Gníomhaíocht Fhisiciúil / Physical Activity
‘Laps to Lapland’
De ghnáth, bhí sé de nós againn mórshiúl scoile a dhéanamh agus páistí gléasta suas in éadaí na Nollag. D’athraíomar cúrsaí i mbliana toisc ‘An Bhratach Scoile Ghníomhaí’ a bheith á lorg againn. Rinnemar ‘Laps to Lapland’ ina áit sin.Bhain an scoil iomlán an-taitneamh astu.
Our school always held a Christmas Procession as part of the festive celebrations, where the children dressed up in their Christmas costumes and paraded themselves in their finery through the classes. Instead, as part of the campaign to achieve an Active Flag, we decided to run ‘Laps to Lapland’ instead. Our ‘Dressing Up’ this year related to proper running gear only!
The Daily Mile & An Dúshlán Rith Timpeall na hEorapa |
The Daily mile & The Run Around Europe Challenge
Táimid ag glacadh páirt i ‘nDúshlan Rith Timpeall na hEorapa’ faoi láthair agus á mheascadh leis an ‘Míle Laethúil’. Is feachtas fiúntach tras – churaclaim é seo a mheallann daltaí a bheith gníomhach. Téann na páistí ag rith ar an gclós ar a laghad dhá uair sa tseachtain. Bíonn léarscáil na hEorapa, lena sainchomharthaí air, ar an mballa. Chomh maith le sin, tá cairt ann ionas go bhfuil na páistí in ann an dul chun cinn a thaifead. Leanfaidh na daltaí an cosán, timpeall na mór roinne. Tá foghlaim ghníomhach sa tíreolaíocht agus sa mhata i gceist leis chomh maith! Tar éis gach sainchomhartha a bhaint amach, shocraíomar chun dúshlán nua a thabhairt dúinn féin. Is í ár scoil in Atha Cliath an áit thosaí. Tháinig an chlár ‘News2Day’ de chuid RTE chun muid a thaifeadú ag déanamh an míle laethúil!
We are currently taking part in ‘The Daily Mile’ and we may extend it into the ‘run around Europe Challenge’. This initiative offers excellent cross-curricular benefits and encourages children to be active. The children run laps around the school playground, at least twice a week. There is a map of Europe, containing European landmarks, on the wall. There is also a chart for the children to track their progress. A great opportunity to link geography and maths activities in class, through active learning! After reaching each landmark, we decided to set oursleves a new challenge. Our school in Dublin is the starting point. The RTE program ‘News2Day’ came to our school to film us doing the daily mile!
Snoopy Gníomhach
Seo é Snoopy Gníomhach. Is breá leis a bheith gnóthach, gan dabht! Téann sé abhaile le páiste difriúil ó Rang 1, chuile lá den tseachtain. Le linn na seachtaine, déanann Snoopy gníomhaíochtaí éagsúla leis an bpáiste agus a c(h)lann. Cuireann na páistí fógraí de na gníomhaíochtaí éagsúla a bhí ar siúl acu ar Chairt Thaifid Snoopy atá ar thaispeáint sa rang agus insíonn siad dá rang fúthú.
This is Snoopy Gníomhach! He loves to be active! Every day, he goes home with one of the children in Rang 1. During the week, Snoopy does different activities with the child and his/her family. The children put notifications about the various activities they got up to into Snoopy’s Record Chart and they tell their class all about them the following day.
Ceannairí Clóis / Playground Leaders
Bíonn páistí ón gCSG mar ‘Cheannairí Clóis’ le linn am lóin. Caitheann na páistí crios muinchille nó seaicéad an duine. Tógann siad fearas spóirt amach agus bíonn siad ag múineadh do pháistí eile conas an fearas sin a úsáid. Tá dhá liathróid bhog ag chuile rang don chlós agus imrítear sacar ar an gClós Uile-Aimsire agus cluichí áirithe ar an bhféar nuair a bhíonn an aimsir tirim.
Children from the Active School Committee (ASC) have volunteered to be ‘Playground Leaders’ during lunch times. It is their responsibility to distribute sports equipment, and to teach other children how to use the equipment. Each class have two soft balls to play with on the yard and soccer is played on the All-Weather surface during dry weather.
Sosanna Gníomhacha / Busy Breaks
Tá sosanna gníomhacha mar chuid den ghnáth lá scoile anois. Ar laethanata atá fluich, roghnaíonn na múinteoirí gníomhaíochtaí mar ‘Just Dance’, ‘Go Noodle’, 10@10′ srl. chun a chinntiú go mbíonn páistí gníomhach in ainneoin na h-aimsire. Bíonn sosanna gníomhacha againn mar bhriseadh idir ceachtanna freisin!
Roghnaíomar Mí na Márta mar an mhí le h-aghaidh na mBrisí Gníomhacha.
Busy breaks have become part of our daily routine. On rainy days, teachers choose from a range of activites such as ‘Just Dance’, ‘Go Noodle’, ’10@10′ etc. to ensure students are active, despite the weather. We also use ‘Busy Breaks’ as transitions between lessons!
We selected the Month of March as our ‘Busy Breaks Month’.
Ócáid Ghníomhach Scoile/ Active School Event
Mar chuid den Seachtain Scoile Ghníomhaí, d’eagraíomar go mbeadh ócáid ghníomhach scoile, spraíúil againn. An ghníomhaiocht a roghnaíomar mar scoil ná go mbeadh na páistí ar fad ag foghlaim conas rince an Dreoilín a bhaint amach le Príomhoide Nóirín á stiúradh. D’eagraigh Nóirín clár ama don scoil ar fad agus bhí am faoi leith leagtha amach aici do gach rang ó Luan go hAoine don chleachtadh. Bhíomar réidh ansin don ócáid mór spraoiúil ar an Aoine. Nuair a shroiceamar tráthnóna Aoine, tháining an scoil ar fad le chéile; páistí, cúntóirí, múinteoirí, roinnt tuismitheoirí agus bean an lae… Príomhoide Nóirín. Buíochas le Dia go raibh an ghrian ag scoilteadh na gcloch an lá sin agus bailíomar ar fad le chéile amuigh ar an gclós glas. Bhí na páistí scaipthe amach de réir ranga. Bhí P.O. Nóirín ag seasamh ar ardán. Bhí an bosca ceoil ag feitheamh ar imeall an fhéir. Bhí an ‘drone’ san aer agus muid go léir réidh. A trí, a dó, a haon! Abhae linn lenár ócáid ghníomhach scoile; Rince an Dreoilín. Bhaineamar ar fad taitneamh as an lá mór scoile seo a bhí thar cionn ar fad. Míle buíochas le gach éinne as na h-ullmhúcháin ar fad a rinne sibh don ócáid ghníomhach scoile agus ach go háirithe, Príomhoide Nóirín agus páistí na scoile. Maith sibh gach éinne. Sár obair.
As part of our active school week we organised a whole school fun event. The activity we chose as a school was to learn a dance called ‘The Dreoilín’. Múinteoir Nóirín led the children in their preparations and organised a special timetable ensuring that each class got opportunities to practise The Dreoilín each day in anticipation of our big dancing event on Friday. On Friday afternoon, everyone came together, SNAs, children, teachers, parents and the main lady herself, Múinteoir Nóirín. Thankfully the sun was shining as we all gathered together on the pitch and the children were positioned by their class teacher in their designated spot around the pitch. Múinteoir Nóirín was standing on a small stage, the sound system was on the edge of the grass and Múinteoir Ciarán’s drone was waiting in the air. We were ready to go. One, two, three and off we went with our whole school dancing event. We all thoroughly enjoyed our day. Many thanks to all involved for their help and especially to Múinteoir Nóirín and the children with all their preparations. Well done to all. Excellent work.
